Halle Bailey admitted to “overreacting” on Kai Cenat’s livestream

Halle Bailey admitted to "overreacting" on Kai Cenat's livestream

Halle Bailey, the star of The Little Mermaid, recently shared her feelings after discovering that her 9-month-old son, Halo, appeared on Kai Cenat’s Twitch livestream. During the November 6 broadcast of the “Mafiathon 2” event, Bailey’s ex-boyfriend, DDG, brought Halo on camera, and the footage was later shared on Cenat’s YouTube channel. Bailey was not informed ahead of time and found out about her son’s appearance at the same time as the rest of the public, which led to her expressing her anger and disappointment on X (formerly Twitter). She posted that she was “extremely upset” by the surprise exposure of her child to millions of viewers, especially since she was out of town at the time.

On November 7, Bailey took to social media again, this time reflecting on her emotional reaction. She admitted that she might have “overreacted” in the moment, acknowledging that her response may have been too intense. “Maybe I did overreact and shouldn’t have brought it here. I know that Halo is always safe with his dad,” she wrote, expressing regret for how the situation unfolded. Bailey explained that her initial anger stemmed from the feeling of being blindsided: “I just don’t like finding out with the rest of the world what my baby is doing.” She also showed appreciation for Cenat’s generosity, adding, “Thank you, Kai, for the gifts for Halo,” acknowledging his kindness despite the circumstances.

Concerns Over Privacy and Anxiety
Bailey’s reaction was also influenced by her ongoing struggles with anxiety, especially when it comes to being away from Halo. A few weeks before the livestream incident, Bailey had shared her personal challenges with crippling anxiety when traveling for work without her son. “Flying tonight to be somewhere for one day but having crippling anxiety without my son,” she had written on Snapchat in October, revealing how difficult it was for her to be apart from him. She had even asked her followers for advice on how other mothers manage the emotional toll of leaving their children behind for work commitments.

Balancing Privacy and Parenthood

In her posts, Bailey emphasized her role as Halo’s mother and protector, expressing her sadness over not being informed about the livestream beforehand, especially while she was out of town. “I am his mother and protector and saddened that I wasn’t notified,” she wrote. Despite her frustration, Bailey made it clear that she trusts DDG to care for their son, saying she knew Halo was safe with his father. Bailey and DDG, who welcomed Halo in December 2023, broke up in early October 2024.

This situation highlights the difficulties of managing privacy as a parent in the digital age, particularly for those in the public eye. Bailey’s candid posts have sparked conversations about the challenges of maintaining boundaries, protecting children, and managing public life while navigating the responsibilities of motherhood.
