Kauri Tree: The oldest and most majestic tree in the world

The Kauri tree is native to New Zealand and is famous for being the world’s oldest tree species, with some specimens dating back thousands of years. With a height of up to 50 meters, with giant trunks that can carry dozens of people around, Kauri stands out as a true giant of the natural world. It is known as the lord of trees because its majesty makes people feel overwhelmed.

Kauri Tree: The oldest and most majestic tree in the world

Historically, Kauri trees were harvested and transported down rivers and streams using wooden dams. When European settlers first arrived in New Zealand, they discovered that strong Kauri wood was ideal for making masts and spars for sailing ships due to its superior quality.

Since then, Kauri has become a favorite wood among local carpenters and shipbuilders, prized for its durability, strength, straight grain and excellent water resistance. The special grain and shimmering color of wood make it a popular material for making high-end furniture. In addition, Kauri resin is also used to create unique and valuable works of art.

Kauri is also famous as the “vampire tree” because its roots absorb water and nutrients from neighboring trees during the night. Thanks to his outstanding qualities, Kauri earned the title “Lord of the Trees”.

This plant has many uses, and all parts of the plant can be used. However, extensive logging over the years has caused once-abundant Kauri populations to severely decline, making this magnificent tree increasingly rare.
