Oleksandr Usyk: Undisputed Champion humiliated both Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury

Oleksandr Usyk, known for his swift and agile movements, has earned the nickname “Catskill”, symbolizing his cat-like finesse. This unique ability has made Usyk one of the greatest and formidable fighters in the world of boxing.

From Cruiserweight King to undisputed Heavyweight Champion

Oleksandr Usyk is not just known for his impressive victories but for making history in the world of boxing. Before stepping into the heavyweight division, Usyk left a significant mark in the cruiserweight class with remarkable achievements. In July 2018, Usyk defeated Murat Gassiev to secure all four major belts: WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and WBC, becoming the undisputed champion of the cruiserweight division.

What’s even more extraordinary is that Usyk is the only boxer in history to win all four belts in the cruiserweight category. Previous champions like Evander Holyfield and O’Neil Bell only achieved their titles during the era of three belts. Usyk’s accomplishment in the four-belt era has solidified his status as a living legend in the sport.

Dominating the Heavyweight

After conquering the cruiserweight division, Usyk made a smooth transition to the heavyweight division in late 2019, continuing to showcase his remarkable strength and skill. In his heavyweight debut, Usyk defeated Chazz Witherspoon, and just two years later, in September 2021, he shocked the boxing world by defeating Anthony Joshua to claim the WBA (Super), WBO, and IBF heavyweight titles.

This victory not only elevated Usyk’s reputation but also confirmed his dominance in the sport. In their rematch in August 2022, Usyk successfully defended his titles, while also adding the prestigious The Ring title to his collection.

But the defining moment of Usyk’s career came in March 2023 when he defeated Tyson Fury, claiming the WBC title and becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in the modern four-belt era. This marked the first time since Lennox Lewis in 1999 that the sport had an undisputed heavyweight champion.

The record humiliates Joshua and Fury

With an undefeated record of 22 wins, including 14 knockouts, Usyk has never been knocked down in his heavyweight career. This feat becomes even more remarkable when compared to his peers. Anthony Joshua, whom Usyk has defeated twice, has been knocked down a staggering 9 times throughout his career. From his legendary bout with Wladimir Klitschko in 2017 to his fights with Andy Ruiz Jr. and his recent match against Daniel Dubois, Joshua has frequently hit the canvas.

Tyson Fury, another big name in the heavyweight division, has also suffered knockdowns, with a total of 8 to date. Fury’s most notable knockdowns occurred during his trilogy with Deontay Wilder, where he was floored four times. Even against Francis Ngannou, a former UFC fighter making his professional boxing debut, Fury was knocked down early in the fight.

Oleksandr Usyk – The undefeatable Champion

Usyk is not only known for his technical brilliance but also for his resilience. In his recent bout with Daniel Dubois, Usyk briefly kneeled after a body shot, but the referee ruled it an illegal blow for being below the belt. Despite the controversy, Usyk demonstrated his dominance by securing a knockout victory in the ninth round.

Unlike Joshua and Fury—both of whom have been knocked down numerous times—Usyk remains unbeaten and undefeated. His ability to avoid knockdowns and stay resilient sets him apart as a champion of the highest caliber, with a flawless record that could remain untouched.

Bright future for “Catskill”

With such incredible achievements and an undefeated record, Usyk is widely regarded as one of the best heavyweight boxers in the world today. His ability to maintain peak performance and showcase unmatched technique makes him a force to be reckoned with in the sport of boxing. The upcoming rematch against Tyson Fury, scheduled for December, is another chance for Usyk to solidify his place as the sport’s reigning undisputed champion.

It’s clear that Oleksandr Usyk is carving out a legendary path in the history of boxing. With his unmatched accomplishments, Usyk is destined to leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of boxing fans worldwide.
