The video, which has circulated online, claims to feature the Houston rapper, leading Megan to take a firm stance on social media against what she calls “fake ass sh*t.”
On June 8, Megan addressed her followers on X, making it clear that she is prepared to take legal action. “It’s really sick how y’all go out of the way to hurt me when you see me winning,” she posted. “Y’all going too far. Just know today was your last day playing with me, and I mean it.”
AI’s Growing Impact on the Music Industry
Megan isn’t the only musician dealing with the negative effects of artificial intelligence. In November, fellow rapper Cardi B also faced an AI-related scam. A deepfake of her voice was used to promote a financial scam, falsely advertising an easy way to gain money. The AI-generated clip featured Cardi’s likeness, saying, “Yo, it’s ya girl Cardi and I’ma show you how to put $16,000 in your pocket right now for free!” The video went on to suggest the existence of a government stimulus program, encouraging users to sign up.
Cardi quickly responded on X, sharing the video with a caption that read: “AI is crazy smh… another lawsuit that fell right on my lap… I love easy money.” Her comments reflect the frustration that artists are feeling over the misuse of AI in scams that target their fans and harm their reputations.
Sexyy Red Also Targeted by AI Scams
Rapper Sexyy Red was also drawn into a similar AI scheme. On November 21, an AI-generated video surfaced, featuring a digitized version of her voice promoting “free money.” In this clip, the fake Sexyy Red voice claimed, “The government be handin’ out stacks to y’all,” to encourage users to click on the fraudulent link.
Upon seeing the video, Sexyy Red quickly took to X to express her outrage. She retweeted the video and wrote, “My lawyer bout to have a field day,” indicating that she would be pursuing legal action against those behind the AI scam.
