     Ukraine’s military has confirmed the use of high-precision U.S. glide bombs in a strike against Russia’s Kursk region, a bold move that underscores the escalating tension between the two nations. Ukrainian Air Force Commander Lt. Gen. Mykola Oleschuk released a video Thursday night showing a Russian platoon base being hit in Kursk.      White House national security spokesman John Kirby emphasized that the U.S. continues to support Ukraine’s use of U.S.-provided munitions in defensive operations, including those conducted across the border into Russian territory. He noted that U.S. officials remain in close contact with their Ukrainian counterparts, providing guidance and support as needed.

Challenges and Future Prospects

     Despite Ukraine’s recent successes, significant challenges remain. Russian forces continue to resist Ukrainian advances in the Kursk region, and the long-term sustainability of Ukraine’s territorial gains is uncertain. The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Friday that its troops had repelled Ukrainian attempts to advance on the Kursk region’s villages of Borki and Malaya Loknya and had taken out a Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage group near Kamyshevka.

     The conflict in Kharkiv, while showing some Ukrainian progress, has also seen intense fighting as Russian forces concentrate their efforts on the Donetsk region. Russia’s spring offensive in Kharkiv initially led to some gains but has since stalled, with fighting now shifting to other strategic areas.
