Willy Adames may consider changing positions with the Mets to be a better fit

Mets president of baseball operations, David Stearns, has reportedly acquired free agent Willy Adames from the Brewers. Adames is said to be open to considering a move to third base, and Stearns has mentioned that Mark Vientos could play first base if needed.

Adames Expected to Draw Significant Interest

Teams like the Dodgers, Braves, and Giants have been eager to acquire Adames through trades. Dodgers president Andrew Friedman, who initially brought Adames to Tampa Bay, is interested, although the Dodgers’ need might not be as urgent. NLCS MVP Tommy Edman performed well in the postseason, and Miguel Rojas is expected to make a full recovery after offseason surgery.

The Royals, who are looking for a strong leadoff hitter, might consider Gleyber Torres, who has done well in that role for the Yankees.

Juan Soto Sweepstakes: A Possible New York Battle Royale

If the rising Royals cannot secure a high on-base player, they may consider moving superstar Bobby Witt Jr. to the leadoff spot. Although Witt prefers to hit second, he led the league in hitting with the bases empty this year. Mariners, Giants, and Blue Jays also have a need at second base, making Torres a potential fit.

David Ross a Possible Candidate for Orioles’ Coaching Staff

David Ross is reportedly a candidate for Brandon Hyde’s coaching team in Baltimore. No decision is close, but Ross would be a strong addition. Dodgers first base coach Clayton McCullough remains a candidate for the Marlins’ managerial job, following Will Venable’s move to the White Sox and Craig Albernaz staying in Cleveland.

White Sox Star Garrett Crochet Back in the Market

Dodgers and Padres were among the teams making offers for Crochet last summer, but limited innings kept them from finding an ideal price. Now, they could be in a better position to negotiate, as Crochet is two years from free agency.

The White Sox are unlikely to trade away talented Luis Robert after his recent breakout season. He could be a valuable trade piece at the deadline.
